Reflections by Annette Roux, Retired Pastoral Associate
''Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.'' Psalm 95:2
There is an African proverb that says, ''Even the hen lifts her head toward heaven when swallowing her grain.'' How sad that many, who are daily recipients of multiplied blessings, never lift their head in thanks to the God who gave them. Do you know who is the greatest saint in the world? It is not he who prays most or fasts most; it is not he who gives most; but it is he who is always thankful, who receives everything as a sign of God's goodness, and has a heart always ready to praise God for it.'' How thankful we should be. God has been so good to us all. He deserves nothing less than to find a thankful heart in every believer. The Bible, especially in the Psalms, encourages a thankful heart: Psalm 69:30, ''I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.''
Prayer: The only words necessary are “Thank You.” May I repeat them every day of my life. Amen.
